vegans and chocolate ?

Leora Klingelhoets: I found this great vegan recipe for chocolate chip cookies. In the recipe, it said I can use turbinado or white sugar. I am trying to avoid white sugar at all costs plus I think it loses the whole point of it being a "healthy" cookie.I made some with turbinado, they came out so gritty. The texture is so weird, any suggestions? Thanks...Show more

Amina Motzer: Here are some links that might help. This is going to be a hard science fair project since you don't really have the means to set up three trials to report on. Perhaps you could find a few people who is are vegetarian and are willing to take a blood pressure measurement daily for you and compare it to meat eating diets. Then you could use that data to draw a conclusion. Here are some sites that might help you out anyways.

Armanda Hertel: If done correctly, yes, a vegetarian diet is very healthy. Since most saturated fats are found in meats and animal products, then you'll cut down ! your intake of saturated fats. Also, you'll lower your risk of getting food poisoning, since undercooked meat and meat held at the wrong temperature are good ways to get a food-borne illness. Buy the book, The New Becoming Vegetarian by Melina and someone else I can't remember. That book can give you the information you need to stay on a healthy vegetarian diet....Show more

Chadwick Schmelz: I would be a Very sad monkey if I couldn't have my chocolate.Dark chocolate, rice milk chocolate...They even make vegan chocolate boxes! mmm mm mmmm

Tom Romer: For my science fair project, I am using the question, "Are vegetarians healthier than non-vegetarians?" I need A LOT of help on this. If you have any information (charts, diagrams, articles, anything really!) from a reliable source that would be EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you all soooo very much!

Gregg Hagge: Is there a certain group of ingrediants I can write down and take on shopping trips with me, to look for i! n things that I assume are vegan but may not be, such as pasta! 's, cereal's, pasta sauces, etc etc...Any help appreciated :)

Shaquita Wernicki: I have never bought specialty dairy free chocolate. I just get dark chocolate that doesnt list milk in the ingredients. Ghirardelli chocolate chips are vegan, and make some mighty good cookies:):):)

Tana Dumoulin: Pretty much anything made in a lab or a factory is something to avoid on a vegan diet (though a lot of people who do animal free diets which some call vegan do eat processed foods and lab "foods" just so long as no animals are involved). Here is a list of many ingredients to avoidhttp://www.veganwolf.com/animal_ingredients.htmThese are ingredients which may or may not be animal derived but all of them are things that are not vegan due to the fact they must come from a lab and don't seem at all natural though there is a chance that some might be animal free: http://www.angelfire.com/ar/vegan1/ingredients2.ht...I define veganism differently than most! I define as an animal fr! ee diet that does not contain many processed foods or things made in laboratories or things that hurt animals more than would fruits veggies whole grains, nuts and legumes. The idea is love for the planet which also means love for animals and respect for all of it.Some people define veganism as simply a totally animal free diet meaning you could probably go around eating Sodium Glyceryl Oleate Phosphate (assuming it is even edible and animal free) and high fructose corn syrup and other garbage like that but I don't see how that is going to help animals that much other than the fact you are not directly killing them. Obviously there is no real diet that would involve no animal harm the closest one would maybe be if you did a raw foods diet and grew everything yourself organically with a no till method and got the seeds locally on foot from seed producer that does not sell GMO seeds or any hybrid types. But that is hard to do so the idea is too try your best and know that no! body is perfect but you are trying your best.

Luther Plagmann: I ! would say that generally vegetarians are healthier than non-vegetarians because most of non-vegetarians eat way too much meat. Also, vegetarians are generally healthier, because they usually watch what they eat a lot better than others. There are exceptions for every rule. There are healthy non-vegetarians as well as unhealthy vegetarians.

Kelly Bistodeau: I'd be going through withdrawl if I never had chocolate again...seriously, I'm what some call a chocoholic. ;)Naw, cocoa is technically a bean so chocolate is vegan as long as you get the right kind. Obviously, Hershey's milk chocolate (well, any kind of chocolate from them actually) is not vegan, however dark chocolate (which may sound gross, but it's actually delicious) usually is. And yes, there is a chocolate made with rice milk as well, for the people who want something to mimic the milk-chocolate they're used to. :)...Show more

Flor Lizardi: James' link is good, here's another to cross-reference with.! http://www.happycow.net/health-animal-ingredients....Don't feel overwhelmed by it, though it may seem like a lot at first. You get used to it, and you start to cook more whole foods, where you don't have to worry about stuff like this too much.

Javier Holsonback: Yes, they do make chocolate with rice milk. For example, Twilight bars are made with rice milk and are vegan. And of course, there's always dark chocolate. Just check the ingredients.

Dalia Causby: Dark chocolate is an acquired taste. And not all of it is vegan. Some idiotic companies think it's a good idea to put dairy in dark chocolate, so read your labels for no-no ingredients. However, organic, fair-trade, and high-end chocolate companies don't put cows' milk in dark chocolate. Terra Nostra makes rice milk chocolate bars. Green & Blacks is pretty good (I like the mint flavor as well). Chocolove's dark chocolate is also vegan. Look for lower cacao percentages--the higher the cacao content, the less s! weet it is....Show more

Jacinta Moitoso: It all depends on your b! alance. Vegetarians usually worry more about they eat. But they can often worry too much, and not eat right because of this. Non vegetarians can not care what they eat, just eat whatever and not be healthy, but there are other omnivores (such as myself) that dont do this, but instead eat balanced diets. It really depends on the individual. I personally eat meat because 1. Its delicious :P and 2. whose to say there isn't something in it that we dont know about, but we, as humans, need? Humans are built to be omnivores. So, I'd say, while vegetarians are usually more health-oriented, omnivores get a more well rounded diet. Vegans are probably the least healthy of the bunch, do to their lack of variety in all food groups.I'd change your project to be something about the differences between a healthy diet and unhealthy diet, and how vegetarians can be unhealthy as well as omnivores, but they could both be healthy or why humans are built to eat meat etc etc...Show more

She! ree Hipwell: Vegans can eat dark chocolate and brands like Terra Nostra does have Organic Rice Milk Chocolate Bar.

Alma Twomey: vegans don't eat milk chocolate because of the milk but dark chocolate (if good quality.. usually 70% and over) is usually suitable for vegans. some people don't like dark chocolate because it's more bitter than milk chocolate but i've found dark chocolate that was quite tasty.and yes there is also chocolate made from rice milk! i haven't tried any only because i can't find any here. it sounds awesome though.. i loooove rice milk....Show more

Rodrigo Pezley: Cans of beans: Such as Refried beans, Ranch Beans.. many of them have meat products/cook in pork products. I was vegetarian for 8 months.. and thats the only thing that I ran into that was totally weird for me..

Daren Ventrice: You'll always have to check ingredientsSome pastas are made with egg.gelatin is in a lot of thingsA lot of japanese sauces use bonito flakes in their! production.things like curry pastes sometimes have shrimp paste as an ! ingredientget to know your additives as well, although it's best to try to avoid them as well if possible - if something needs to be stabilised, flavoured, coloured, etc, it's not really "food"

Luis Mellon: NO

Gus Leiby: vegans and heavy meat eaters have the same expected lifespanovo-lacto vegetarians and occasional meat eaters have a similar expected lifespanpescatarians have the longest expected lifespan.A 1999 metastudy[54] combined data from five studies from western countries. The metastudy reported mortality ratios, where lower numbers indicated fewer deaths, for fish eaters to be .82, vegetarians to be .84, occasional meat eaters to be .84. Regular meat eaters and vegans shared the highest mortality ratio of 1.00. The study reported the numbers of deaths in each category, and expected error ranges for each ratio, and adjustments made to the data....Show more

Laveta Fathy: Are Vegetarians Healthier

Dale Mccoun: Grind up the turbinado using a m! ortar and pestle. It'll take some work but it'd be worth it I think.

Oscar Waddups: It depends on the particular person. I think that generally vegetarians are considered healthier but the main point is a correct or good enough balance of fruits/vegetables and protein-rich foods. There are some meat eaters who are in good health.

Joaquin Dronko: Those who become vegetarian would have a 1/3 less chance of becoming obese, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol level, lower chance of needing a heart surgery due to heart decease, lower chance of diabetes, lower chance of catching cancer, lower chance of catching stroke, and maybe less chance of other chronic decease. With all these effects decreasing a vegetarian can expect their life to be extended about 10-15 years or maybe more with a healthy lifestyle....Show more

Rivka Killmer: Well, there is dark chocolate. Sadly, many conventional brands feel compelled to add milk to their dark chocolate (why?). Bu! t there are a number of brands that don't do so. Trader Joe's has some! vegan dark chocolate bars. Newman's Own, Endangered Species, and Chocolove are among the brands that have vegan dark chocolate bars (if you don't mind shared machinery, which I don't). A company called Go Max Go makes vegan versions of Snickers (Jokerz), Milky Way (Twilight), 3 Musketeers (Buccaneer), and Almond Joy (Mahalo) with rice milk chocolate. Rose City Chocolates and Xan Confections both have vegan lines. The Tropical Source family of foods makes vegan chocolate chips, including a gluten-free type.Dark chocolate is a bit of an acquired taste, but I have found some vegan dark chocolate bars with 55 percent cacao content so they aren't as strong. If there's a Whole Foods near you, they should have some pretty good options in their candy aisle. Or go to any vegan online retailer, and you will see TONS of vegan chocolate options. I wouldn't be a very happy vegan if I couldn't get my chocolate....Show more

Freeman Rutkin: Here ya go: http://www.caringconsum! er.com/resources_ingredient...

Demetrius Coaster: Chocolate [usually called dark chocolate] is vegan. MILK Chocolate is NOT vegan. Get it? Chocolate is simply made up of cocoa [butter and solids]. Milk chocolate has cocoa butter, milk, sugar. White chocolate [or w/e the heck it's called] is milk, sugar and some other stuff to make it taste highly appealing.

Rodolfo Merel: You can't make generalizations like that. Some vegetarians are healthier than some non-vegetarians, and some non-vegetarians are healthier than some vegetarians. A person could eat a pretty unhealthy vegetarian diet full of sugar and fat, while an omnivore diet that contains few processed foods, fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains, can be quite healthy. You would be better off to change the focus of your project to describing how a vegetarian diet can be a healthy one. Or on how some aspects of omnivore diets heavy in meat products can be unhealthy....Show more

Clemente Schoec! k: A lot of people turn vegetarian for a variety of reasons. Some do so! for weight control, as they associate meat intake with weight gain. Some have religious reasons, others start feeling strongly about cruelty to animals while some take the spiritual angleâ€"believing that if one wants to live in peace and happiness, then one can’t eat meat, fish, fowl or eggs. But is vegetarianism healthy? Several studies show that regular fruit and vegetable consumption reduces the risk of coronary artery disease. A recent survey of 47,000 Italians found that persons with the highest vegetable consumption had a 21 per cent reduced risk of heart attacks compared to those with the lowest vegetable consumption. Vegetarians also appear to have lower blood pressure and lower rates of hypertension and Type 2 diabetes than non-vegetarians. In one study, it was noted that the risk of most cancers was 20 to 50 per cent lower for those with a high consumption of whole grains as compared to those with a low consumption. Vegetarians also tend to have a lower body m! ass index and lower overall cancer rates. The longest living populations in the world have very little meat in their diets and largely eat whole grains, fruits and vegetables. A vegetarian diet is also definitely rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals.Despite the benefits of vegetarian diets, vegetarians and vegans (those who also avoid animal derivatives such as milk and dairy) are at risk of several nutritional deficiencies like those of vitamin B12, iron and calcium. Meat, eggs, and dairy are good sources of these nutrients. Vitamin B12 is almost exclusively found in animal food. Iron is especially a concern for vegetarian women in the reproductive age, who are at risk of deficiency due to menstrual losses. Iron and vitamin B12 are essential for formation of red blood cells, maintenance of good haemoglobin levels and proper functioning of the central nervous system. Women are also at higher risk than men for developing osteoporosis especially if their calcium needs aren! ’t met. Even though iron and calcium requirements can be met in veget! arian diets, the bio-availability of these nutrients from vegetarian sources is not comparable to that from non-vegetarian sources.Who is a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian in the Indian context? Most Indian vegetarians pile on the five Psâ€"potatoes, paneer, paranthas, puris and pulses. They hardly have any vegetable and fruit intake, let alone eating brightly-coloured or dark green vegetables, nuts and other protective foods. They don’t fully reap the benefits of a veggie diet, thanks to a high intake of polyunsaturated fat (present in refined oils) and saturated fats (present in vanaspati). They also consume a lot of dairy and milk owing to their “no-meat status”. A complete opposite is the Western counterpart who is typically a converted health-conscious vegetarian, and includes whole grains, legumes, fresh fruits and vegetables, plenty of nuts, seeds, soya and good fat in his diet. In other words, a vegetarian diet can be more unhealthy than a non-vegetarian one. A! lot depends on what you really eat rather than simply being vegetarian or otherwise....Show more

Alphonso Brake: Absolutely! Vegans definitely eat chocolate.Dagoba Organic Chocolate Company does make some Vegan Chocolate products. However, they do have non-vegan products too; so be sure to read the ingredients. http://www.dagobachocolate.com/Endangered Species Chocolate also have some Vegan Chocolate products. ALSO, 10% of their net profits are donated to help species, habitat, and humanity! http://www.chocolatebar.com/ Some of the Ghirardelli chocolate chips for baking are vegan. You just need to read the ingredients to make sure there isn't any animal products. These are the Ghirardelli Choc. Chips I use: http://shop.ghirardelli.com/product-exec/product_i... . The chips contain cocoa butter which is naturally, dairy free. You can also use 100% cocoa powder in baking and use vegan "milks" and vegan "butter" in it. Here is a yummy Vegan Cupcake recipe I have tried and! REALLY like: http://veggiesensations.com/vechcupcablf.html . I also re! cently made these divine Vegan Chocolate "No-Bake Peanut Butter Crunch Squares" : http://www.thegluttonousvegan.com/2010/04/no-bake-... . The Vegan who writes this blog makes the most splendid Vegan treats.I also like to make smoothies using cocoa powder, bananas, a little agave nectar, tofu, and almond milk (or rice milk). A great way to help with the chocolate cravings. As someone previously mentioned, dark chocolates are generally what Vegans use..I don't think I could be a Vegan if I couldn't have Chocolate.Hope this is helps you. :)...Show more

What To Eat When You're A Vegetarian?

Ewa Homrich: It's not very hard to get. A vegetarian doesn't eat meat, poultry, fish, crustacea, shellfish, or products of animal slaughter such as animal-derived gelatin.

Brittanie Zakutney: you can eat any vegetables, fruitsalso can eat dairy productshow about "sweet tomatoes"it is a good restaurant for vegetarians

Brian Marquina: Red meats, fish, poultry, leafy greens, fruits, vegetables, nuts. The usual stuff. Most cults use vegetarianism to help create a chemical imbalance in people's brains that makes them easier to "brainwash".

How much do you drink on a daily basis in non-alcoholic beverages?

Dexter Dicostanzo: I drink several cups of water a day. I'm not sure how that can affect constipation and depression though. Maybe try drinking water, milk, and fruit juice.

HELP! My rabbit is not eating!! What should I do!!?

HELP! My rabbit is not eating!! What should I do!!?

answers 0:I have a 2 or 3 year old Holland Lop mix rabbit. He is a male and lives in a rabbit hutch in the shed. When I gave him dinner Wed night which was rabbit pellets he didn't eat it. He also didn't eat his breakfeast this morning (Tues morning) which was a big carrot. And tonight (Tues night) I didn't give him dinner because he still has not eaten his food. He always eats his food and now he's not. But I have been giving him extra food. Is he not hungry? He's acting fine and his teeth don't look too long. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!?I don't want to spend a ton of money at the vets office but I will take him to the vet if I know for a fact something is really wrong....Show moreanswers 1:Your rabbit can die if it is not treated right away. Believe me, I caught mine right away and she still nearly di! ed and will forever be syringe fed..PLEASE get her vet care ASAP!!!!answers 2:If your rabbit stops eating, it's often an emergency. Did you switch foods on him? Some rabbits are picky. They do have a sensitive digestive system, so new foods have to be introduced slowly. Rabbits don't show that they're ill, so as not to alert predators. If he's being listless then that's not a good sign either. Best to take him to a vet for a check-up. As a side note, I'd be worried that he's lonely in the hutch by himself. Rabbits are social and should be with another rabbit, or get human attention. If you neuter him, he could make a lovely house rabbit. Rabbits can be litter-box trained. They should also get a couple of hours exercise daily....answers 3:If you have some hay, do feed him some . Also, rabbits eat and do their business constantly, so if he isn 't doing what he does normally, it could be that there is a problem . I highly recommend you take him to the vet just in case though !! If there 's no other option, get a syringe and put a few drop! s of water on some pellets . Mash it up real good until it can go through the syringe . Slowly feed this to your rabbit by the opening on the sides of his mouth . I did this for my rabbit for a few weeks, and he was eating normal again ! I hope your baby is okay !hope i helped ! good luck : )...answers 4:He's got a belly ache that could be fatal. The carrot alerted me right away. You should keep him away from food for just a few hours, but plenty of water is needed. Don't give him any fresh food!answers 5:HiJust try and leave your rabbit alone for a couple of days, if your rabbit is still not eating then there has got to be something wrong. If your rabbit seems to be pooping a lot, not drinking not eating, seems to be shaking in any way, has a wet nose then those are symptoms of illnesses, if none of those has happened to your rabbit, it could be just he is going on a diet!!Good luckx...answers 6:Just Try to leave him/her alone for a whileanswers 7:Hi there.Rabbits occasion! ally go through a bored phase of not eating for a couple of days - it's nothing to panic about. If he doesn't eat OR drink for over 8 days, contact your local vet clinic.I hope I helped....answers 8:He needs to see a vet. Once rabbits stop eating the longer it goes on for the harder to get them going again. It could be a dental problem. The teeth you can see may look alright but they have a very narrow mouth and without the right equipmenet which a vet has you can't see most of his a rabbits teeth so it could be his back teeth are over grown. Get him an emergency appointment i don't know what time it is there but if your vets are still open call now or if not call first thing tomorrow when they open and an appointment. You also when he starts eating feedig him when he start eating plenty of hay and fresh veg i have attacted two sites of fresh food that is safe for them to eat. Pellets are an important part of a rabbits diet but the main should be hay and fresh veg.But do g! et him an appointment with your vet. http://www.adoptarabbit.com/artic! les/packet/abcveg... http://www.rabbit.org/care/veggies.html...answers 9:I hope you don't feed your rabbit a whole carrot every morning! Too much sugar is very bad for them. A one inch piece every so often is more than enough for them - think of it as a treat! He could easily have a blockage if you aren't feeding him hay every day, they need some dark greens like kale or romaine lettuce (not iceburg). Do your homework and get him to a vet ASAP. Rabbit digestion is tricky and they can die very quickly from anything that disturbs it.Do your research on how to feed a rabbit! www.rabbit.org...

Raw Eggs VS Cooked Eggs for the raw diet...?

Faustino Mellerson: TOP 5 SUGGESTED CATAGORIES FOR THIS QUESTION:Health > Diet & Fitness Food & Drink > Cooking & Recipes Food & Drink > General - Food & Drink Food & Drink > Ethnic Cuisine Food & Drink > Vegetarian & Vegan...Show more

Kimberlee Bowdish: I think it would be alright to give them cooked. Unlike the meat, I don't think that cooking the eggs would deter the nutritional benefits at all. The only thing I would be concerned about is the possibility of the shells becoming more harmful when they are dried out and cooked like that

Kim Gerbino: Why not ask your vet? We are not medical experts here. Your dog needs a professional work up.

James Langmyer: Ok I will use the stove or the skillet!

Myron Leftwich: bones are a better source of calcium, and much more fun to eat.do skip the shells and go ahead and cook the egg.

Sook Hershkowitz: There is a real possibility of getting sick when feeding your pet a raw food diet with raw meat.! But you take certain precautions to avoid getting sick like: Washing down surfaces after you're done with the meat. It has to be thoroughly disinfected. If you could feed your dog outside, that is best and outside in an area that you don't normally go to. Also, a lot of dogs hold onto the meat or bone with their paws, so be prepared to wash their paws after they eat. As for their tongues... nature takes care of that. Dogs have amazing antibiotic properties in their saliva. It's a proven fact through the study of wolves. But don't let your dog lick you right after eating. Wait at least a half an hour to an hour. You should be ok then. It is also possible that your pet chokes on bones or gets an especially sharp bone which could scratch his insides. This is more of a risk with chicken or turkey bones, even raw ones. But many dogs eat them and do not have problems. Some dogs do have problems. Beef bones are more porous and safer. Other than those two things, raw feeding is re! ally healthy for your dog. I have seen first hand how nice my ! dog's skin and hair are when I feed raw. I don't always feed raw. I alternate between what I feed but I also use commercially prepared raw and sometimes raw turkey necks. I am not a believer in the prey model diet only. I like to give my dog extra nutrients through veggies and fruits as snacks and some supplements like fish oil....Show more

Lizzette Wendroth: that is funny that you dog starves himself. not really, but i have never heard of that before. what about just feeding him wet food.

Lashawnda Anteby: Well since your dog has not been introduced with other dogs often it would be tricky to introduce another dog especially a puppy.Puppies need lots of attention and supervision, and will take up most of your time. So might an older dog, because it can develope so many medical and physical problems. Therefore I am not so sure that these two will get along very well. But if you have a lot of time and a great amount of patience, I am sure that these two dogs j! ust might get aquainted. Just make sure if you do get the little guy make you supervise each meeting with the puppy and the older dog. Good luck!...Show more

Carter Edstrom: Did you tested Eating for Energy (120 raw food diet recipes) procedure? Visit in this website : http://StayEatingRaw.com/Info . It may clearly support anybody!

Coleman Coscia: Egg shells are a good source of calcium for the dog.

Kandi Lough: i know u dont' want to hear this but i think a new puppy would aggravate a dog of that age. my mother in law got a 1 y.o. puppy when her other dog was about 5 and it didn't take it well. the puppy would follow him around and try to jump and play with him. she still has both dogs though, i personally think the older dog is depressed though. and ur dog is 12 so it might take it even worse. why not adopt a dog that is a senior also like a 5-7 y.o.? o would recommend taking ur older dog with u to look at new dogs and see how he takes it before actuall! y adopting another dog....Show more

Luke Gacusan: Although there ! are many benefits to a raw egg, it does prevent dogs from absorbing some of their necessary nutrients (Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problem), so it is a much better idea to cook it first. As for the shell, it is a good natural source of calcium, just make sure it is well ground....Show more

Ofelia Kieck: The best way to help an older established dog get used to a younger newer dog, is to make sure your older dog doesn't lose her place in your "pack". A new dog will demand a lot of your attention, and the older dog may get jealous of that. Therefore, make sure that the older dog always gets attention, food, toys and it pick of place to sit near you FIRST all the time. This will teach the puppy that the older dog is an established pack member with a "higher" ranking in the pack, and will help the older dog feel more secure and less "put out" by the younger dog. As long as ! your older dog isn't stripped of her place in your pack, she should come to accept the new dog more readily....Show more

Douglass Sarley: Go ahead and cook the eggs... shells and all.I feed my dogs raw eggs out on the patio most Saturday mornings. With 5 dogs in the house right now I usually feed 2 dozen eggs at a time (big dogs). They all have different styles of cracking and eating the eggs and I find it humorous to watch.I feed what dogs historically have eaten while living with humans - just about everything except the kitchen sink. Noone in my house except me eats leftovers ~ so once a week the dogs eat whatever we haven't and depending on the amount I may opt to add some oatmeal, raw eggs, canned mackeral or sardines (or chum) to fill out the meal. My dogs also get some kibble ~ If I should become incapacitated I cannot guarantee someone will be available who is knowledgable or willing to raw feed. Of course, my dogs think kibble is cookies... so they may h! ave some weight issues if suddenly being fed kibble on an ongoing basis! .Their primary diet is still prey-model raw....Show more

Alvaro Oare: I don't know about dog nutrition, but I do know about cat nutrition and your cat will not be healthy on dog food. It doesn't contain taurine which is essential to a cat. Aslo I'm sure it's full of grain, which is basically carbohydrates and your cat can develop diabetes and become fat. You need to be strict for their own sake and feed them high quality species appropriate diet. Feed them at the same time in different rooms. Take the food away after 30 minutes if they don't eat it and refrigerate it. Try again in a few hours. No animal will starve itself just out of being fussy about their food. The cat would be harder to adjust, but the dog will give in pretty fast. Pour some tuna juice over the cat's food, it should make it more appealing. You can try mixing it gradually, but you need to make a change or you are risking your pets' health in the long run. More about cat nutrition here:

Jesse P! irieda: First don’t feed him your food! He will eat when he gets hungry enough! One thing you can do is made him some brown rice and turkey, chicken or beef. Try that for a few days! Also only put his food down for 10 min 2 times a day and that’s it! If he is still not eating then take him to the vet! It could be something else! But because he is eat some food I think he is being a pain and wants your food! No madder how bad you feel for him do not feed him anything but his food!

Hal Palowoda: We have tried every food possible, and have even mixed wet and dry food together which for a while he ate. Now he starves himself until he dry heaves/pukes up bile. The only thing he wants is people food, I've tried mixing certain people foods with his dog food that are supposed to be good for him but he either just licks it off or literally picks out every bit of whatever it is I put in there. I have also tried the dog gravy that doesn't work anymore either.

Amina Mot! zer: I can feed kibble and cooked occasionally and still be a raw feede! r if I'm feeding mostly raw.

Coleman Coscia: Generally after a week, most dogs get along very well. Remember, dogs are naturally pack animals so the more the merrier has been my experience.

Lon Pennington: Microwaving the egg shells is not a good idea. Cooked eggs are fine. Feeding cooked egg shells is like feeding your dog cooked bones. Unless you grind the microwaved shells to powder, the shards are sharper when cooked. But could you dry out the shells in a microwave?A raw diet does not include cooked food. You are feeding homemade because you cook the hamburger, which is no big deal. You should google homemade feeding to be sure you are balancing your dog's meals.Eggs are fine no matter how many days you feed them. I feed eggs at every meal. Just wash the shells. I'm a raw feeder, so my dog gets them raw....Show more

Benita Nancy: When I got my new puppy, my older dog was very aggressive and foaming at the mouth for about 24 hours but, then sh! e accepted that he was a part of the family. Soon they became buddies. It will take time and probably even more time since you're dog is older. You might want them to meet on neutral territory.

Rickey Vrieze: I don't think taping the lights is necessary. It sounds to me like he just needs attention. He's bored, so he tries to get your attention about the lights. Are you walking him every day? Obedience training him a few minutes a day? Playing fetch or tug every once in awhile? Try distracting him with a different toy. A toy Kong filled with peanut butter or small treats can keep him busy for hours. A Kong is a rubber chew toy with a hollow hole. You fill the toy up with treats, it keeps them occupied trying to get them out....Show more

Lahoma Beadell: go to the vet and he will help you he helped me

Lyndon Mattas: So I suspect a laser pointer got my dog fascinated with lights as a puppy because the other dog could care less. Unfortunately, she al! so tries to get my attention when the older dog wants something. If a t! oy goes under the couch, the older dog will lie there all the time with a sad look on his face. I'm his trained retriever I guess. I've tried reprimanding the dog when it does this but he doesn't seem to understand so I stopped.Basically, I can get toys, but I can't get lights. There is a light on the back of two speakers, a powerbar, and other things in the house. Some of them I've taped over, but I'm wondering about the powerbar. I assume the light just signifies the power is on, correct? It's not exactly dangerous to tape over it? Also, any tips for dealing with a dog when it won't stop bothering you for something. Sometimes it ends up wanting dirt or garbage that ended up under something, and he has plenty of toys....Show more

Tory Clapper: Cooked eggs are fine to give a dog. My dogs steal them off my moms plate when shes not looking never have any problems. Eggs either way are good for dogs, great for coats and easily digested. Just make sure they are cooked prop! erly and they should be fine. Cooked eggs are better then raw anyways. You cant microwave eggs anyways, it doesnt get hot enough to kill the salmonella.weimaraner mom is absolutely correct the shells can contain a good portion of salmonella if not properly handled. Dogs can get salmonella poisoning....Show more

Sharee Doak: I have a 12 year old female shitzu and she mostly dosent do well with other dogs, although she has not really been around alot of dogs at all. If I get a new male shi tzu puppy, will they get along??? All my old dog really does is sleep and eat because she is very old. She also cannot see very well. Will the new puppy leave my old dog depressed for months? Or will she adjust? If anyone has any information on this subject, please submit it. Thanks!!!!!!

Ayesha Genova: Hey, I'm a BARF feeder just like you (unless you feed prey model??) and my dogs are the same, they aren't that keen on raw egg.But I put the raw eggs in a food processor with the! vegetables I add and that way the veggies, egg yolk, white and shell a! ll get mixed together and they enjoy it.I don't feed ANY cooked food except treats, and they don't like treats either.I think it's okay to give them cooked, but I truly prefer raw....Show more

Leann Villalta: why would you get a puppy when you know it will be hard on her??? if she is old she wont want to play with a puppy and it will be jumping on her and biting her and making a pest of itself...how will you feed them seperately???it might work out - it might not.. I would wait till she passes on personallybut if it does work out then thats great.. I wouldnt get a pup I would get an adult if I were gonna get a second dog - adults are much calmer and will be better for your old one to not have a stupid puppy jumping on it...anyhow what ever you do DO NOT get a puppy from a pet store - this is the WORST thing you can do......Show more

Marna Liddie: Talk to ur vet. And actually people food is good for them, its proven that if they eat people food mixed w/ their d! og food they have less problems health-wise. Hears what we do for my dogs: Put in their dry food, put in some hot water, and then the chicken or hamburger, or something. Then mix it up. We just give them whatever we have leftover from our meal.Hope i helped!! :D

Jestine Osumi: Put him on a semi vegan diet. Give him people food but not processed like we do with ours. If you give him meat boil it rather then making it as if you were about to eat it.

Manual Burtis: If your old dog doesn't do well with other dogs, you may want to wait before getting a puppy. Maybe have a friend with a dog come over and see how your dog reacts. If she tolerates another dog around, get a puppy. If you do get a new puppy, make sure you pay a lot of attention to your old dog - do not make her feel left out. Also, puppies have a lot of energy and you should separate them if the puppy gets to be too much for her. Let her have some alone time while you take the puppy for a walk, or p! lay with him outside. Make sure your old dog always gets fed first, yo! u pet her first and she should be ok with it.My old dog was 10 when I brought in 2 greyhounds and he was thrilled to pieces! He followed them around everywhere, ran with them and had a great time, but he was a dog who had always liked other dogss, so give your girl a trial run with someone else's dog first....Show more

Estrella Northway: We have a 4 yr old choc lab, and just got a shitzu/bichon puppy 3 weeks ago...at first, the lab just kept her distance, although wagging her tail all the time..she just didnt bother with the pup in any way....after about a week, the puppy was allowed to share treats with the lab, they played, and shared toys..it just takes a little time..be sure to pay lots of extra attention to your older dog so she knows she is still #1..the puppy will learn its place, and soon they will be buddies. Your dog is older, so you may need to spend a little more time show! ing her that everything is ok, and then also make sure the puppy doesnt bother her too much, you may need to separate them often so the older dog can have its "relax" time...Im sure all will work out! good luck!...Show more

Raul Tllo: Curious as to why you would feed the shells? It's the shells that carry samonella not the eggs themselves, so personally, I would skip the shells and only feed eggs and yes, there's no reason why you can't cook the eggs [scrambled] rather than give the raw eggs, as long as you aren't adding anything to them.Skip the shells why take the risk....Show more

Dana Russian: I introduced a pupply to my older dog about 6 years ago. All my dog did was sleep and eat too! After the puppy came home though she perked up quite a bit and I think she lived longer for it. Your dog won't be depressed for months I promise you. In fact if you get a puppy now would be the time to do it, pups can learn alot from older dogs. i.e. Monkey see monkey do! !

Lolita Deschamp: As long as you can get him to eat the eggs, I ! don't think it matters if they are raw or not.I personally feed my eggs raw mixed with a little ground venison, but that's just me.If you are going to cook them, I would suggest doing them up on the stove. The microwave really messes with the food while cooking it. Sucks the nutrients right out.Add: Two eggs a week isn't going to cause a nutrient deficiency....Show more

Coleen Carignan: She'll probably just be grumpy around it if she's that old. Old dogs're like old people. She may tolerate the puppy unless it bothers her, at which point she may bite. It will change once the puppy's old enough that it's not an annoying puppy anymore.

Von Houskeeper: It sounds like you have spoiled him way too much with people food. Not a good thing. He will have to eat eventually

Loriann Carrigan: DeeDawg I'm NOT skipping the shells- they are fine.
