Kimberlee Bowdish: I think it would be alright to give them cooked. Unlike the meat, I don't think that cooking the eggs would deter the nutritional benefits at all. The only thing I would be concerned about is the possibility of the shells becoming more harmful when they are dried out and cooked like that
Kim Gerbino: Why not ask your vet? We are not medical experts here. Your dog needs a professional work up.
James Langmyer: Ok I will use the stove or the skillet!
Myron Leftwich: bones are a better source of calcium, and much more fun to eat.do skip the shells and go ahead and cook the egg.
Sook Hershkowitz: There is a real possibility of getting sick when feeding your pet a raw food diet with raw meat.! But you take certain precautions to avoid getting sick like: Washing down surfaces after you're done with the meat. It has to be thoroughly disinfected. If you could feed your dog outside, that is best and outside in an area that you don't normally go to. Also, a lot of dogs hold onto the meat or bone with their paws, so be prepared to wash their paws after they eat. As for their tongues... nature takes care of that. Dogs have amazing antibiotic properties in their saliva. It's a proven fact through the study of wolves. But don't let your dog lick you right after eating. Wait at least a half an hour to an hour. You should be ok then. It is also possible that your pet chokes on bones or gets an especially sharp bone which could scratch his insides. This is more of a risk with chicken or turkey bones, even raw ones. But many dogs eat them and do not have problems. Some dogs do have problems. Beef bones are more porous and safer. Other than those two things, raw feeding is re! ally healthy for your dog. I have seen first hand how nice my ! dog's skin and hair are when I feed raw. I don't always feed raw. I alternate between what I feed but I also use commercially prepared raw and sometimes raw turkey necks. I am not a believer in the prey model diet only. I like to give my dog extra nutrients through veggies and fruits as snacks and some supplements like fish oil....Show more
Lizzette Wendroth: that is funny that you dog starves himself. not really, but i have never heard of that before. what about just feeding him wet food.
Lashawnda Anteby: Well since your dog has not been introduced with other dogs often it would be tricky to introduce another dog especially a puppy.Puppies need lots of attention and supervision, and will take up most of your time. So might an older dog, because it can develope so many medical and physical problems. Therefore I am not so sure that these two will get along very well. But if you have a lot of time and a great amount of patience, I am sure that these two dogs j! ust might get aquainted. Just make sure if you do get the little guy make you supervise each meeting with the puppy and the older dog. Good luck!...Show more

Coleman Coscia: Egg shells are a good source of calcium for the dog.
Kandi Lough: i know u dont' want to hear this but i think a new puppy would aggravate a dog of that age. my mother in law got a 1 y.o. puppy when her other dog was about 5 and it didn't take it well. the puppy would follow him around and try to jump and play with him. she still has both dogs though, i personally think the older dog is depressed though. and ur dog is 12 so it might take it even worse. why not adopt a dog that is a senior also like a 5-7 y.o.? o would recommend taking ur older dog with u to look at new dogs and see how he takes it before actuall! y adopting another dog....Show more
Luke Gacusan: Although there ! are many benefits to a raw egg, it does prevent dogs from absorbing some of their necessary nutrients (Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problem), so it is a much better idea to cook it first. As for the shell, it is a good natural source of calcium, just make sure it is well ground....Show more
Ofelia Kieck: The best way to help an older established dog get used to a younger newer dog, is to make sure your older dog doesn't lose her place in your "pack". A new dog will demand a lot of your attention, and the older dog may get jealous of that. Therefore, make sure that the older dog always gets attention, food, toys and it pick of place to sit near you FIRST all the time. This will teach the puppy that the older dog is an established pack member with a "higher" ranking in the pack, and will help the older dog feel more secure and less "put out" by the younger dog. As long as ! your older dog isn't stripped of her place in your pack, she should come to accept the new dog more readily....Show more
Douglass Sarley: Go ahead and cook the eggs... shells and all.I feed my dogs raw eggs out on the patio most Saturday mornings. With 5 dogs in the house right now I usually feed 2 dozen eggs at a time (big dogs). They all have different styles of cracking and eating the eggs and I find it humorous to watch.I feed what dogs historically have eaten while living with humans - just about everything except the kitchen sink. Noone in my house except me eats leftovers ~ so once a week the dogs eat whatever we haven't and depending on the amount I may opt to add some oatmeal, raw eggs, canned mackeral or sardines (or chum) to fill out the meal. My dogs also get some kibble ~ If I should become incapacitated I cannot guarantee someone will be available who is knowledgable or willing to raw feed. Of course, my dogs think kibble is cookies... so they may h! ave some weight issues if suddenly being fed kibble on an ongoing basis! .Their primary diet is still prey-model raw....Show more
Alvaro Oare: I don't know about dog nutrition, but I do know about cat nutrition and your cat will not be healthy on dog food. It doesn't contain taurine which is essential to a cat. Aslo I'm sure it's full of grain, which is basically carbohydrates and your cat can develop diabetes and become fat. You need to be strict for their own sake and feed them high quality species appropriate diet. Feed them at the same time in different rooms. Take the food away after 30 minutes if they don't eat it and refrigerate it. Try again in a few hours. No animal will starve itself just out of being fussy about their food. The cat would be harder to adjust, but the dog will give in pretty fast. Pour some tuna juice over the cat's food, it should make it more appealing. You can try mixing it gradually, but you need to make a change or you are risking your pets' health in the long run. More about cat nutrition here:
Jesse P! irieda: First donât feed him your food! He will eat when he gets hungry enough! One thing you can do is made him some brown rice and turkey, chicken or beef. Try that for a few days! Also only put his food down for 10 min 2 times a day and thatâs it! If he is still not eating then take him to the vet! It could be something else! But because he is eat some food I think he is being a pain and wants your food! No madder how bad you feel for him do not feed him anything but his food!
Hal Palowoda: We have tried every food possible, and have even mixed wet and dry food together which for a while he ate. Now he starves himself until he dry heaves/pukes up bile. The only thing he wants is people food, I've tried mixing certain people foods with his dog food that are supposed to be good for him but he either just licks it off or literally picks out every bit of whatever it is I put in there. I have also tried the dog gravy that doesn't work anymore either.
Amina Mot! zer: I can feed kibble and cooked occasionally and still be a raw feede! r if I'm feeding mostly raw.
Coleman Coscia: Generally after a week, most dogs get along very well. Remember, dogs are naturally pack animals so the more the merrier has been my experience.
Lon Pennington: Microwaving the egg shells is not a good idea. Cooked eggs are fine. Feeding cooked egg shells is like feeding your dog cooked bones. Unless you grind the microwaved shells to powder, the shards are sharper when cooked. But could you dry out the shells in a microwave?A raw diet does not include cooked food. You are feeding homemade because you cook the hamburger, which is no big deal. You should google homemade feeding to be sure you are balancing your dog's meals.Eggs are fine no matter how many days you feed them. I feed eggs at every meal. Just wash the shells. I'm a raw feeder, so my dog gets them raw....Show more
Benita Nancy: When I got my new puppy, my older dog was very aggressive and foaming at the mouth for about 24 hours but, then sh! e accepted that he was a part of the family. Soon they became buddies. It will take time and probably even more time since you're dog is older. You might want them to meet on neutral territory.
Rickey Vrieze: I don't think taping the lights is necessary. It sounds to me like he just needs attention. He's bored, so he tries to get your attention about the lights. Are you walking him every day? Obedience training him a few minutes a day? Playing fetch or tug every once in awhile? Try distracting him with a different toy. A toy Kong filled with peanut butter or small treats can keep him busy for hours. A Kong is a rubber chew toy with a hollow hole. You fill the toy up with treats, it keeps them occupied trying to get them out....Show more
Lahoma Beadell: go to the vet and he will help you he helped me
Lyndon Mattas: So I suspect a laser pointer got my dog fascinated with lights as a puppy because the other dog could care less. Unfortunately, she al! so tries to get my attention when the older dog wants something. If a t! oy goes under the couch, the older dog will lie there all the time with a sad look on his face. I'm his trained retriever I guess. I've tried reprimanding the dog when it does this but he doesn't seem to understand so I stopped.Basically, I can get toys, but I can't get lights. There is a light on the back of two speakers, a powerbar, and other things in the house. Some of them I've taped over, but I'm wondering about the powerbar. I assume the light just signifies the power is on, correct? It's not exactly dangerous to tape over it? Also, any tips for dealing with a dog when it won't stop bothering you for something. Sometimes it ends up wanting dirt or garbage that ended up under something, and he has plenty of toys....Show more
Tory Clapper: Cooked eggs are fine to give a dog. My dogs steal them off my moms plate when shes not looking never have any problems. Eggs either way are good for dogs, great for coats and easily digested. Just make sure they are cooked prop! erly and they should be fine. Cooked eggs are better then raw anyways. You cant microwave eggs anyways, it doesnt get hot enough to kill the salmonella.weimaraner mom is absolutely correct the shells can contain a good portion of salmonella if not properly handled. Dogs can get salmonella poisoning....Show more
Sharee Doak: I have a 12 year old female shitzu and she mostly dosent do well with other dogs, although she has not really been around alot of dogs at all. If I get a new male shi tzu puppy, will they get along??? All my old dog really does is sleep and eat because she is very old. She also cannot see very well. Will the new puppy leave my old dog depressed for months? Or will she adjust? If anyone has any information on this subject, please submit it. Thanks!!!!!!
Ayesha Genova: Hey, I'm a BARF feeder just like you (unless you feed prey model??) and my dogs are the same, they aren't that keen on raw egg.But I put the raw eggs in a food processor with the! vegetables I add and that way the veggies, egg yolk, white and shell a! ll get mixed together and they enjoy it.I don't feed ANY cooked food except treats, and they don't like treats either.I think it's okay to give them cooked, but I truly prefer raw....Show more
Leann Villalta: why would you get a puppy when you know it will be hard on her??? if she is old she wont want to play with a puppy and it will be jumping on her and biting her and making a pest of itself...how will you feed them seperately???it might work out - it might not.. I would wait till she passes on personallybut if it does work out then thats great.. I wouldnt get a pup I would get an adult if I were gonna get a second dog - adults are much calmer and will be better for your old one to not have a stupid puppy jumping on it...anyhow what ever you do DO NOT get a puppy from a pet store - this is the WORST thing you can do......Show more
Marna Liddie: Talk to ur vet. And actually people food is good for them, its proven that if they eat people food mixed w/ their d! og food they have less problems health-wise. Hears what we do for my dogs: Put in their dry food, put in some hot water, and then the chicken or hamburger, or something. Then mix it up. We just give them whatever we have leftover from our meal.Hope i helped!! :D
Jestine Osumi: Put him on a semi vegan diet. Give him people food but not processed like we do with ours. If you give him meat boil it rather then making it as if you were about to eat it.
Manual Burtis: If your old dog doesn't do well with other dogs, you may want to wait before getting a puppy. Maybe have a friend with a dog come over and see how your dog reacts. If she tolerates another dog around, get a puppy. If you do get a new puppy, make sure you pay a lot of attention to your old dog - do not make her feel left out. Also, puppies have a lot of energy and you should separate them if the puppy gets to be too much for her. Let her have some alone time while you take the puppy for a walk, or p! lay with him outside. Make sure your old dog always gets fed first, yo! u pet her first and she should be ok with it.My old dog was 10 when I brought in 2 greyhounds and he was thrilled to pieces! He followed them around everywhere, ran with them and had a great time, but he was a dog who had always liked other dogss, so give your girl a trial run with someone else's dog first....Show more

Estrella Northway: We have a 4 yr old choc lab, and just got a shitzu/bichon puppy 3 weeks ago...at first, the lab just kept her distance, although wagging her tail all the time..she just didnt bother with the pup in any way....after about a week, the puppy was allowed to share treats with the lab, they played, and shared toys..it just takes a little time..be sure to pay lots of extra attention to your older dog so she knows she is still #1..the puppy will learn its place, and soon they will be buddies. Your dog is older, so you may need to spend a little more time show! ing her that everything is ok, and then also make sure the puppy doesnt bother her too much, you may need to separate them often so the older dog can have its "relax" time...Im sure all will work out! good luck!...Show more
Raul Tllo: Curious as to why you would feed the shells? It's the shells that carry samonella not the eggs themselves, so personally, I would skip the shells and only feed eggs and yes, there's no reason why you can't cook the eggs [scrambled] rather than give the raw eggs, as long as you aren't adding anything to them.Skip the shells why take the risk....Show more
Dana Russian: I introduced a pupply to my older dog about 6 years ago. All my dog did was sleep and eat too! After the puppy came home though she perked up quite a bit and I think she lived longer for it. Your dog won't be depressed for months I promise you. In fact if you get a puppy now would be the time to do it, pups can learn alot from older dogs. i.e. Monkey see monkey do! !
Lolita Deschamp: As long as you can get him to eat the eggs, I ! don't think it matters if they are raw or not.I personally feed my eggs raw mixed with a little ground venison, but that's just me.If you are going to cook them, I would suggest doing them up on the stove. The microwave really messes with the food while cooking it. Sucks the nutrients right out.Add: Two eggs a week isn't going to cause a nutrient deficiency....Show more
Coleen Carignan: She'll probably just be grumpy around it if she's that old. Old dogs're like old people. She may tolerate the puppy unless it bothers her, at which point she may bite. It will change once the puppy's old enough that it's not an annoying puppy anymore.
Von Houskeeper: It sounds like you have spoiled him way too much with people food. Not a good thing. He will have to eat eventually
Loriann Carrigan: DeeDawg I'm NOT skipping the shells- they are fine.
