Cristopher Gavalis: This summer I drove 16 hours to FL and back with a six year old and an 8 year old. We were going to Disneyworld so I put together a fanny pack for each of them with some little activities from the Target dollar section (notebook, small pens for drawing, Target had some great little prepackaged crafts like beaded bracelets and foamie/gluestick activities, a disposable camera, some sugarless gum and candy, whatever fits). They LOVED them. They took their fanny packs into the restaurants whenever we stopped and kept themselves entertained while we were waiting for our food. Then they used the fanny packs at the theme parks. And hey if that fails... Gameboy. *duck*...Show more
Geraldo Mccalla: Ronnie, i couldnt agree with you more.
Raelene Cunnick: watching "are we there yet?" will prepare you for whats ahead.
Ty Kirton: I'm sorry but i really dont believe in drugging children.
Chadwick Schmelz: get a portable DVD player thing! get books from the library
Charline Granes: You could take some coloring books, portable cd players(w/headphones!!) so they could listen to music that they like. Or play I spy, or a scavenger hunt. Also take some easy snacks like chips, crackers, twizzlers. I know that my kids get cranky when they are hungry. And any of the above snacks are really easy to clean up.
Granville Stray: my mom used to make a car type scavenger hunt. She'd print out a list of items, landmarks, businesses, etc. that we'd look for. It was a really really long list that took some time to complete and whoever got all the items named off first won a prize when we got to our destination. It worked for us and we had 5 kids in our family.
David Boehler: Travel BINGO, like on supernanny. I tried it. It works great and the kids love it.
Davina David: SEDATIVES! I have done similar interstate and long trips and the only way for YOU to keep your sanity and ensure a safe trip. Have the! m eat an hour before you leave, make a pit stop as soon as it ! looks like they are getting restless, give them the sedatives (your doctor can tell you which are safe for your children... I used "fernergan" usally prescribed for kids with chickenpox and it comes in syrup as my kid didnt like tablets) and get back on the road! the sedatives and the sublte motions of the car should have them out like a light within the hour for at least 6 hours of peaceful driving for yourself! :-)...Show more
