Currently there are a lot of people looking for work and companies have their pick of employees -- they're going to look for the best applicant and a reference check is important. If you want the job, list references that are real -- surely you have met a few people in your lifetime that you can use as a reference.
Leif Serabia: Neither. You have to know at least three people to put down as references. Three people that will just tell them what they want to hear, unless you're a murderer.
