Is Marriage overated??

Bo Perham: I DO want to get married someday, marriage is one of the most special times of your life!

Lita Thammorongsa: N1 coley. 'marriage isn't overrated...you can get stuff you want easier.' What a crock.Yes, overrated unless you win the lottery, figuratively speaking, and the person of your dreams actually wants anything to do with you.

Rachal Osaki: Marriage is the two the appropriate and the worst of existence. There are joys previous which you will discover in any opposite direction and however the lows are additionally the backside cases on your existence. Is marriage over-rated? i think of it relies upon on what you want to benefit. Marriage paintings whilst each and every significant other denies themselves and lives for the earnings of the different individual. Marriages war whilst one or the two companions call for that their desires be met. in actuality you significant other - no rely how amazing can no longer make you a chuffed or fulfilled ind! ividual. you are able to desire to be waiting to discover happiness and exhilaration without annoying the different individual fulfill you or you will get 2 needy human beings annoying their emotional desires be met and it incredibly is going to be depressing. yet if the two companions can come at the same time bringing their very own unique skills and supply to different out of their fullness - then it incredibly is heaven in the international. a individual's attitude relies upon on their exposure - is their marriage or their parent's marriage heaven in the international or replaced into it organic hell? the two are accessible effects....Show more

Anton Waln: Marriage isn't overrated. You can have the same insurance and stuff so It's easier to have a house and what not. Besides, It's all about two people coming together because they love each other.

History of marriage: Was marriage originally a religious institution?

Solomon Belback: It could be that whole Bible Belt way of thinking.

Riley Migl: a million. interior the U.S. federal tax regulation heavily penalizes married persons. single persons have it greater acceptable below the tax regulation. 2. hundreds of years of human historic previous let us know that the absurdity of "gay marriage" is precisely that, an absurdity. If a regulation is handed that asserts figures with 4 equivalent at as quickly as aspects and four ninety degree angles would now be observed as circles, there nevertheless heavily isn't any sq. circles. If a regulation is handed saying that 2 human beings of the comparable gender can get married, there nevertheless heavily isn't a gay marriage. the belief is purely absurd. 3. in case you like computerized inheritance of somebody's possessions, very own those issues at an analogous time now. 4. Hatred, bigotry and malice are actually not what make "gay marriage" a repulsive thought to human beings. Hatred, b! igotry and malice are, in spite of if, why proponents of "gay marriage" are so strongly condescending and disrespectful to Catholics, different Christians, and Orthodox Jews. You hate us all, and that's obtrusive. 5. Your nonsensical tries to equate epidermis colour with habit is an insult to anybody interior the human race. 6. A tremendously politicized vote taken approximately 40 years in the past by utilising the yank Psychiatric association did not exchange what human beings have accepted for hundreds of years. Homosexuality is a perversion, a sickness. Self-defined homosexuality is approximately as person-friendly as schizophrenia - some million% of the inhabitants. greater human beings than that test with comparable intercourse habit, yet they don't look to be gay. very almost all of them are heterosexuals who made a silly selection to work together in a perverted sexual act. actual gay orientation is uncommon and not in any respect frequent in ethical or numerical wo! rds. 7. Any suggestion that folk accepted to work together in ! gay behaviors are the victims of society-huge discrimination is opposite to the info. people who self-document a gay orientation have above-frequent socioeconomic status contained in u . s . of america. i'm Roman Catholic. Peace be with you....Show more

Elsie Resner: No, marriage was a trade agreement. I trade you my daughter, you don't attack me because we are bonded through kinship.

Coralie Goldsberry: Oh absolutely true! It's why most of us are utterly ashamed to live in the same country as the state of Kansas.Basically, the actions of these people have put all of American on the short bus of the world. Helmets and drool bibs firmly in place...

Elinore Schlinker: I wouldn't confine it just to the south. There are fanatics about every religion every where. Not that they are it is just a fact. And if you are from Europe where did you get your info from because I know quite a few fanatics that live in the west, not just the south. NE wayz that is kinda a de! grading q. to all of the Americans. You are sorta sayin...Why do you dumb people, stick all the people I don't agree with in one place in country. Besides we have the right to practice religion how ever we want. Maybe you are just jealous. I don't appreciate this q. And that is my opinion....Show more

Shaunta Paap: Nope. Marriage has a variety of roles in a variety of cultures. The Roman empire, within which Christianity developed, considered marriage entirely a legal contract. Christianity didn't even adopt it as a sacrament until 1215.

Kalyn Proietto: Marriage was originally designed for moneyed or landed interests. That is the official act of marriage. It was later adopted for the masses as a religious institution. In essence it insured the creation of a patriachal society to insure the passing of property through male heirs and the suppression of womens' rights.Today, its just a support system. Some of the oldest marital laws are something like 4000 years o! ld and treats daughters as property to be sold or traded into marriage ! in exchange of a dowery or in exchange for land or animals, and those laws also include laws against premarital sex and adultery -- all of which are directed towards recovering monetary losses rather than love.In short, marriage historically had nothing to do with human love and everything to do with greed....Show more

Russell Mckinzie: Nice rant--but unfortunately the plague of creationism is not confined to the South alone. Yeah, there are other countries--and other regions of the U.S. (and Europe)vulnerable to idiocy.

Katheryn Skrobacki: Marriage was originally a financial institution, an exchange of property between the girl's father and husband, a pawn to secure land, fortune, peace between tribes, etc. Most early ceremonies received a blessing from their respective mythologies, but just like it is today, it was always secondary to family politics. Marriage has evolved through each culture, so if you need a more specific answer, give us some more details.H! owever, you'll receive responses from the Christian fundies who believe marriage originated between Adam and Eve and would therefore be religious (and Christian) in origin. Sane people recognize this as the allegorical it was intended....Show more

Tawny Grosskreutz: Marriage has always been a societal institution. And no, government has not hijacked it. Government has established laws to protect it.

Fritz Sisomphou: For Christians it's still all about becoming one in the eyes of God

Jose Bouliouris: Creationism is not mainly a southern US thing. Where do you get your facts? What does there being other countries or people who believe a certain way have to do with them thinking they are the center of the universe? We have something in our constitution called freedom of religion. Why is it you think that people who don't believe the way you do are somehow less than you?Ya, you've really moved on haven't you....Show more

Delora Struzzi: No person can 'bring! about' the end of the world. The Rapture doesn't exist it was an idea ! created a couple hundred years ago and is not supported Biblically (it says no where that Christian's will suddenly disappear blah blah blah). The mark of the beast is 666. The hebrew number for satan is 999. Evil always returns to its original form and the number 9 is the only number that can always be reduced back into itself. ex. 9 x's 2 = 18, 1+ 8 = 9 9 x's 5 = 45, 4+ 5 = 9

Roland Stampley: It started off as an economic or peace-cementing contract between families or tribes.~

Leif Serabia: We certainly do realise that there are other beliefs in the world. This is because we are taught about these beliefs in our southern U S A classrooms; yet, we are not forced to conform to these beliefs. We tolorate, thus, we wish to be tolorated.

Nicolas Cooley: You are overthinking! Dont do that, it messes you up. TRUST ME!

Wilmer Skidmore: Errr ummmm, "let him that has the understanding..." remember?Don't you see something very conspicous in it's absence i! n the question?Akela, the Lone Wolf.

Paul Maymi: Have you thought about reading the bible in a modern english? It helps me to understand - old english is not spoken today and since the bible's origin is not old english then modern would appropriate.Same scipture in english - NIV - Revelation 13:18 - This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

Marita Stadick: Yup, I live in Florida and it's terrible. Just terrible. Every church is practically a cult down here.I'm originally from Connecticut, where that kind of stuff isn't an issue.Fundamentalists are destroying American values. They're trying to get rid of the ideas that this country was founded on and get rid of the simple liberties we have as Americans....Show more

Lorine Helwick: The United States is a very religious country. Although the basis for the first settlers on the continent was search for religious freedom,! they had little tolerance for the religious views of others. The proble! m is some people feel that science is a threat to religion. I believe that science does not discredit God, but reinforces his existence. How else could one explain the order in the seemingly random nature of the universe?...Show more

Sherita Gallati: Originally... whoo boy, that's a tough one, mostly because we really don't have good records that go back that far. And, the Bible represents only a tiny, miniscule part of the human family and the laws they followed.I can't speak for anything much further back than medieval times, which I've studied somewhat in depth. For the most part, and coming out of Rome, marriage was a social institution. As the Church grew in strength and influence, it took over the institution and set the rules (which stopped the elite from practicing polygamy and having concubines). But most of that didn't happen until after the great schism that split the empire around 1000 or so (a bit later, I don't have the exact date at hand). From about ! 1100 - 1200 the Church exercised a great deal of control (and only over Europe -- I don't know about the rest of the world) and even declared that people who were related as close as _seven_ generations could not marry. Fun, huh? That kind of control (although it was moderated as the middle ages came to a close) continued into the 19th century in Europe. Today, marriage is largely controlled by the laws established by governments, and not churches.During the Industrial Revolution, many marriages were of convenience, as others have stated, being politically motivated in order to prevent wars from taking place. Interestingly enough, that kind of thing didn't start then, but dates back to at least Solomon, who did the same thing. As to the government hijacking marriage? I don't think so. The church simply lost its influence and splintered into thousands of pieces. Someone had to exercise the authority over the entire population and the Church no longer could do that.Add: I shou! ld mention that the idea of financial support varied by place and time,! but that was certainly part of it among some peoples. I understand that is still the situation on the Indian subcontinent today....Show more

Melissa Lavallie: No. Man's actions cannot invoke God bringing about Judgment Day. As it is written:Mark 13:32"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Rosio Pasculli: Nup. The church has hijacked free thinking.

Paul Maymi: Actually there are people all over the world that believe that we are created. That fact that you think that we came from a rock is the most ignorant thing I have heard of( which I am asuming that is what you believe, since it is obviously not creation.). There has never been an ounce of proof that evolution ever existed, & the only evidence seen is that we are CREATED, & should be taught in the classrooms. & when the world ends & those of you who are standing in front of God, our Creator, I hope by then you have realized that creation! ism is the only way we got here, & that God is our creator & Savior. Until then I will pray for you. So how do you explain how you came to being? How do you explain your reason for being?...Show more

Imogene Neiswander: I don't think US southerners think that creation was only FOR americans. At any rate, people like you bug me, not because of your opinion but because you have to be degrading and rude to others when you voice yourself. Learn some manners and ethics, or is that too much to ask?

Jude Kennelly: Well, while I do not promote Creationism in the classroom, I do think that there needs to be more critical thinking established on evolution.I'm sorry if you don't believe in God's creation. It's pretty clear.http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/qa.asp...Show more

Stan Conley: Actually the beasts number is 616. Check it out

Bianca Lannier: no, revelation 13-18 check out the numbers in the Strong's concordance. g 5516-chi-xi-stigma- w! hen written in hebrew it is nero caesar. root word etymology - the g22d! , g14th and an obsolete letter {4742 as a cross} of the greek alphabet . so no big thing about the 666 it is the number of a man and that man was nero caesar or less known as neron caesar.

Sharee Doak: ......... and that in most of the world such as here in Europe has moved on a long time ago. The very notion that creationism would be thought in a science classrom is hilarious to us.To be honest we find it quite funny that there are still people out there that buy into it.Do these people realise that they are not the centre of the universe. There are other countries you know....Show more

Irma Poiter: Nope, marriage was originally a way to claim your property.

Jess Grizzel: Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and sixInstead of a puzzle, could this have actually been a RITUAL to bring about the end and jugement day?

Why do Americans rabidly attack the idea of providing healthcare to illegals?

Why do Americans rabidly attack the idea of providing healthcare to illegals?

answers 0:Yet they don't complain about the military budget? Don't you think you'd have less enemies by playing nice? My mother always said you catch more flies with honey.I mean Canadians don't complain about all the poor Americans that cross the border to steal our healthcare. Why are American priorities killing instead of saving? And PS any nonsense argument about America protecting Canada is not needed. Canada doesn't need a military, Canada has no enemies. And also, Europe and the Commonwealth would also come to it's aid, so no, Canada does not need American protection....Show moreanswers 1:Canada from the onset has enjoyed the unspoken privilege of being protected by the United States. The reason people are up in arms about illegals...Americans believe Government has no b! usiness telling it's citizens who they need to support in such a grand manner, but mostly they feel that the Government wants to run health care which would put an end to private health care. The United States has THE best health care in the world, we didn't get that way by stifling innovation, and settling for mediocrity like Canada....answers 2:Premier Obama and the Dems dont like any opposition and they are scared of the truth and honesty. So they demonize the Tea Partyanswers 3:Because they are told by the (un)insurance companies that this is acceptable. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/oct/01/lobbyi... Ignoring the fact that illegals get healthcare in the USA already! It surprises me that so many Americans seem not to be aware about Obama’s healthcare plans [a]. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims and was elected to bring in changes [b].Firs! t of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make! insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwain [c] and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there.FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [d].FACT â€" insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should [e].FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [f].That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it. Remember, I back my facts up with evidence. Those who say they are wrong tend not to. If they are wrong, e-mail m! e with proof and let me know....answers 4:What part of "Illegal" do you not understand? Where does it stop? It will lead to anyone and everyone that steps foot on US soil will be eligible for free health care.Maybe Canada can take a more proactive approach to world affairs instead of waiting to see what the US will do and decide whether or not to support us."Poor Americans that cross the border to steal our healthcare". Time to take your meds or put down the crack pipe. Canadians come here to get MRIs done immediately instead of waiting weeks in Canada. Numerous Canadians come here to get life saving treatments done. Keep paying your high taxes and stay up north where you belong...eh?Do you have a link to back up your claim? Should I automatically believe your claims as true? The last time I was in Canada (unfortunately), one of your fellow citizens told me he paid 50% income tax and that dental wasn't covered in his health care. Was he lying?...answers 5:because illegals d! o not belong here thats why they already cost billions of dollars as i! t is between education and medical services. CA pays about 11 billion a yeah aloneAs to canadians the ones that come here for medical care PAY for it with their own money they arent given free careanswers 6:The CIA can listen in on my phone calls any time they want, just stay out of my bedroom and my bathroom.THAT is where I draw the line!I'm a republican and think perhaps, they could be of real help with some of my petty problems....answers 7:"Why do Americans rabidly attack the idea of providing healthcare to illegals"?.........What does the word "illegal" mean to you?"Don't you think you'd have less enemies by playing nice"?..........Oh sure, be nice to terrorists and other folks around the world who hate us and want us dead because of our free way of life and they'll just simply start loving us and want to be our friends......How old are you?"I mean Canadians don't complain about all the poor Americans that cross the border to steal our healthcare."..........Yeah, Ame! ricans are crossing the border to Canada in droves so they can stand in line for 6 months to get a needed operation...lolol."Canada doesn't need a military, Canada has no enemies. And also, Europe and the Commonwealth would also come to it's aid, so no, Canada does not need American protection."..........Canada doesn't need a big army because they have the mighty US right next door. What part of Europe and the Cmmonwealth is going to have time to travel across the Atlantic with their dinky army to save your butts from an attack?I really don't know why I put much effort into your question since I'm sure you can't be more than 12 years old....answers 8:No time to deal with Canadians with inferiority complexes.answers 9:I don't see polls claiming that the majority of the nation are gansters or criminals. There will always be that percentage of losers in a society that want to make a living or get by by taking advantage of those whom can't fight for themselves, by stealing wha! t someone else has worked for.Morality in the sense of religion has nev! er been forced upon anyone, but it has been offered as an option for a better life based on your free decision to follow it....answers 10:It's more the idea that our President lies about doing it.One way or another, we will pay for it.answers 11:The democrats refuse to believe people are being driven out of their party by the leftists who have taken control. I have no intention of voting democrat again, even if it means voting for idiots like McCain.answers 12:No.answers 13:"Those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither freedom nor security." - Benjamin Franklin. I strongly support my civil liberties. I also strongly support going after terrorists who are within and outside of our borders. Are the goals mutually exclusive ?P.s. Family or friends: Which company do you prefer?

Bethanie Menden: Thoughts on my marriage & husband?

Lindsey Zanardi: My friends completely went behind my back!?

Agustina Stimmel: Yes, possibly, and I don't think so on the last question

Kris Otuafi: Can You Get Pregnant A Day Befor You Ovulate . ? ?

Piedad Bassiti: I'm pleased to say that it's all gonna be fine. You talked which is the hard part and she said it was ok. The best thing you could ever do to her is just say sorry and MEAN it.

Carmelina Enoch: I agree with you,but don't worry,a Euro 2008 sub-category will be created after the end of Euro 2008.

Carli Watterson: Your vents are not connected to other units. Herbal smoking (I'm assuming this is what you mean) does not leave behind smells very long. Cigarette smoke is sticky, that's why it lingers for so long. Just light some candles, turn on the fan, and the smell will be gone by morning. Make sure you clean your apartment regularly too. Vacuuming and dusting regularly w! ill keep it from smelling. Smoking can cause a lot of dust.

Iris Shawcroft: Well, Ryan, I'm assuming you're talking about blazing up a big spliff, and I think that's great. The smell doesn't really linger too long, it's not like cigarette smoke where the furniture and carpet and your clothes stink. Burn some candles when you're smoking, and turn on the exhaust fan in the bathroom.Your neighbors shouldn't be able to smell it through the air conditioner, but if you're super paranoid about it, go in the bathroom and smoke.Use Febreze too. Also, you should pick up some Butterfingers for when you get the munchies....Show more

Rayford Latz: Yes, it will. That shitttt stinks like hellll once you leave and come back.

Carolin Southers: How to tell if a girl likes you? (girls answer)?

Irvin Guiles: Family or friends: Which company do you prefer?

Lionel Tanen: when i lived in an apartment i just opened a window whenever i smoked. no one ever had a problem with it or said anything. just sit close to an open window and have a fan going. it's all good.

Marion Wieboldt: Friends

May Stands: Sincerely apologize!

Lillie Yarde: i do it and ya the smell stays for a while but ac helps a lot and it ususally doesn't go to other units but u may have a hint of the smell wen ur right next to ur unit. the landlord may fine u but its rare bc dey can't prove it. it jus depends on the apartment building you live in.

Marcellus Exler: I agree totally

Olin Hallin: Depends on how close. Usually friends. I can geek it up more with them.

Inez Relihan: It depends on my mood. When I feel good about myself I want to be with my friends, but when I feel low I want to be with my family. They just ignore me, and don't constantly point ou! t how "b*tchy" I am. If they do, I simply go hide out.

Ellis Cellar: in any relationship, misunderstanding is always there but I think you can make it up to her by spending time with her and talk to her...I think if you can make her laugh is enough if you wanna make it up to her...and don't worry she'll forget about that like how I "forgive and forget" my friend.

Lillie Yarde: If I smoke (not cigarettes) in my apartment occasionally (not sure if I'm allowed to though, necessarily)...Will the smell stay? Will it travel to other units through the air conditioner? Will I be fined if it's not allowed and the landlord smells it when I move out?Thanks!...Show more

Joellen Zorrilla: YesYesNo

James Langmyer: Family are the onl! y one's who are 24/7 to help you, friends aren't like that. So I'd go with family, but sometimes they can get on your nerves lolz :)

Ricardo Rozelle: Christian teenager with boy trouble?

Indira Wassell: I think that they should do this for EVERY category. I am sick of all the "OMG LIEK I TINK DAT I MITE B PREGGO" In the Pregnacy and parenting section posted by the little 17 year olds. What about the adults who actually have legitimate questions? All the children that think they are pregnant are just in the way of everyone... Get a pregnancy test and get over it.... We can't tell you one way or another, only a test can. Kristina Brockwell: i majorly irritated my friend the last couple of days and little to my knowledge at the same time she has been going through a rough spot. i talked with her today and she basically told me what i did wrong and says now everything is ok, i feel like a retard for acting that way? is it over??? anyways to make it up??? THANKS

Sammy Hatzenbihler: do something nice for her to show you care. in time she'll get over it.

Nicolasa Henke: People would post in the wrong section though because they don't want the kids answers, they want someone more mature. When they post in their own section, they will get stupid answers.. Plus, there may be some 33 year olds that are more like 17 year olds cause all they care about it selfish sex.Perhaps it should go by mentality and based on your Qs and your A's you can be shut out of one of the categories..Good suggestion, too bad Yahoo is all automated scripts and no employees....Show more

Darwin Ecton: Yes YesMaybe

Cliff Jacoby: Sentenced to 15 days in jail how much time does a person serve?

Bethany Blocker: Friends. I've never been much of a family person.

Joeann Hoyt: That would be nice. I think they should make people get a credit check to prove their age to have a YA account. Why don't they think of things like this is? Have a good evening, Brandon.

Elvin Mannheimer: lmao "omg i think he likes me he touched my arm!"LMAO.you're hilarious ! :)

Would Being a dentist a good job?

answers 0:i just want to know because that's what i am set for when i go to college, and i just want to know ahead of time if i will enjoy the job (which more than likely i will)answers 1:Yeah if you really like that type of stuff then id say go for it! :]answers 2:It is physically back breaking work. You are in the same position all day and the muscles in your neck, back, shoulders, and your hands and forearms are going to be in a lot of pain. Dental hygenists have the same problem. It is very expensive to go to school, and you will have to work to pay off the loans, so you must be absolutely sure about it. You should seriously speak with several dentists and get their opinion on it. People don't go to the dentist as much nowdays because it's too much to afford. I don't know how business is for them. You should check out the Department of Labor website on what are the m! ost available jobs, and what the rates of pay are, and what the future projections are. You should also ask a dentist to recommend a financial specialist for you to talk to; someone who has counciled dentists for a while, and see that person and ask them what you can expect financially as far as debt and income. There are some places in the country that have very few dentists (because of bad climate, boring places) that you might be assured work, but you need to understand what the competition is like in the area in which you intend to practice. Also, I don't know if this is true, but I have heard the suicide rate for dentists is very high - check that out as well. When you do talk to dentists, ask them if there is another job they wish they had done instead. Good luck!...

Do you think that we experience global warming or global cooloing?

Caroyln Ebach: a little of both. i think that global warming and global cooling are hoaxs. the weather is like a petaloom and it changes from hot to cold and continues. its nonsense

Mauro Cowee:

Jon Bergmeier: Prof Ian Pilmer belives that there may be global warming but that it is cyclical.Watch the videos here.http://torydrroy.blogspot.com/2009/04/prof-ian-pil...

Damion Oleksa: (from my experience) all of the above,From the number of my recent answers that they have tried to get deleted, something I'm saying seems to be scaring them, if they think that will discourage me they are sadly mistaken.

Bailey Lares: The physical effects of warming are obvious Warmer tempshttp://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/2009/...Retreating icehttp://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_im...http://www.nrmsc.usgs.gov/repeatphoto/download_inf...http://www.usgs.gov/global_change/glaciers/repeat_...Rising sea levelhttp://sealevel.colorado.edu/All these things! point to a warming planet not a cooling planet....Show more

Jannette Kotz: You'll notice that the people who make those claims generally do not provide links, like jim.The Earth has experienced warming over the last 35 years:http://tamino.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/t1975.jp...

Russel Gajate: Most of the ways to deal with rising sea levels in developed nations will (and do) evolve around either engineering structures (such as the dykes in The Netherlands) or mitigation strategies (such as building buffers from coastal areas).

Micah Schwarcz: Been thought of:http://ozideas.wikifoundry.com/thread/1226866/Aust...

Robbie Starchman: we could grow more sponges in the sea ..... they would soak up the water

Roselee Mczeal: Global warming is a lie and Al Gore is a dumb whore. The Earth has been cooling since the mid to late 1960's. We are tiny piss ants on this planet. More greenhouse gasses are belched from the smallest volcano eruption than man has E! VER produced. It is a tool used by liberals to gain more power! and to make you feel bad for using and doing things they say they don't but do anyway. Pollution is bad we should all recycle and try to use less and environmentally smarter chemicals, but anyone convinced that global warming is caused by man is a Deuce... Robt Betker: We dont have enough oil wells to make a difference, and actually a large proportion of sea level rise, over 30% comes from us pumping groundwater up out of the ground. What might be possible is there are two areas, one in the Sahara and one in the center of Australia, where sea water could be sent and make inland seas.

Sharolyn Claybourn: All the oil pumped in history could fit comfortably into Lake Tahoe, so I doubt that the increase in sea level would fit in undersea oil well gaps.

Clemmie Burkleo: Global temperatures continued to plunge this past month.Planet Earth has dropped 74°F since Al Gore released his "Inconvenient Truth."Free Republic and! Climate Depot reported:The latest global averaged satellite temperature data for June 2009 reveals yet another drop in the Earth's temperature. This latest drop in global temperatures means despite his dire warnings, the Earth has cooled .74°F since former Vice President Al Gore released "An Inconvenient Truth" in 2006.According to the latest global satellite data courtesy of the University of Alabama in Huntsville and made into an easy to read graph by algorelied.com: "For the record, this month's Al Gore / 'An Inconvenient Truth' Index indicates that global temperatures have plunged approximately .74°F (.39°C) since Gore's film was released," noted algorelied.com.Democrats begin pushing their job killing cap and tax plan in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on Tuesday...Show more

Bianca Lannier: Everyone, Everyone. Its going to be ok. Turns out the satellite was just messed up and the ice cap isn't receding. Also Al Gore is an idiot who put a sce! ne from the day after tomorrow in his documentary, but someone should h! ave told him that the scene was completely computer generated. Also in the 50's it was global cooling. Climate changes happen its the nature of well nature. The deserts of this planet used to be lush with vegetation yet now are deserts. I'm sure the cave man's fires had nothing to do with it so don't even claim it....Show more

Tricia Dossous: Global warming and cooling is natural and cyclical. Since about 2000 we have been in a period of global cooling. This is unfortunate for the global elite who want to use the lie of man made global warming as a reason to impose carbon taxation (cap and trade) on the general public. They use mass media to promote their "concept" on man made GW, saying scientists "believe" it.Actually there are a large amount of scientists who DON'T believe it.You will notice that many of the Global Warming "Believers" post graphs that conveniently start around the year 1950 stop at 2000 or only showing the last warming period.I recommend you look at ! the following site and see what over 30,000 scientists actually think:http://ilovecarbondioxide.com...Show more

Coleman Ocegueda: The rise in water is far, far, far from the only concern due to global warming. Probably not even the main concern.http://skepticalscience.com/global-warming-positiv... has a nice list of the positive and negative (mostly negative) effects of global warming.Aside from that, as others have pointed out, the empty oil wells don't have enough volume to hold much of the excess water in any case....Show more

Josefine Weekey: Hi Jake There already full of water http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_injection_(oil_...

Terresa Tsasie: If the roads are eroding then they are getting more traffic than they were designed for. There is a lot more to building a road than just dumping some ashfalt on the ground and your roads haven't been built to a good enough standard for the amount of traffic they are getting. The need to be resurfaced or yo! u will have to get used to driving on potholed roads. If you want to f! ix it, you should speak to a consulting company that deals with design of pavements. They will be able to tell you the most cost effective way to fix up the roads....Show more

Olen Penhallurick: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap090421.htmlNASA says that we are in a cold spell but there has been an abnormal rise in temperature in the last 100 years most likely associated with human activity.

Coleman Senn: I think most of them dislike C. A few crazies, such as Sagebrush, Cyclops, and so on, may be A as well. A few of them are B if those scientists state alternatives to what they believe but then this goes both ways. Sagebrush may also fall into D with his constant attacks on 'greenies'.

Danette Slotnick: Good answers, but (Lin) if it were only the policy implications why the need for incessant lying about science?, (CR) one can be polite and in denial, although that segment rarely appears here, (Gary) except you left out the "fake" in front of "conservatives".Go! od point too by Peg (and Jeff) re individual variation.BA to Antarcticice.

Lillie Yarde: Any ideas on how to help stop this would be greatly appreciated!

Wally Perrien: Well, global warming is causing climate change all over. So it can be much hotter or wetter in different areas of the earth. It doesn't mean it's hot everywhere.

Rodolfo Merel: All of the above. And let's not sugar coat it. If they did not hate all of the above, they would acknowledge the possibility that humans could be causing Earth to warm. Skepticism is important in science. Denialism is just being abusive.

Barrett Alosa: To begin with, I think they hate people in general. But yes, I think all of the above. It's a different mix for each one of the deniers in here, though. I think the Canadian guy hates scientists, the creationists hate science, the geologist hates the policy implications and the advocates

Nell Dipiero: There's a lot of inconsistencies in Global Warming. S! ome places are really much warmer and some places are colder. The fact ! of the matter is pollution is much more now than before globally. I would rather use the term Global Pollution instead of global warming, hence we all need to pitch in and help out to keep our environment clean. It may not drastically cool off the global warming but surely will keep our surroundings clean and better place for living. Recycle and stop smoking or better yet reduce the use of electricity if we can....Show more

Sheldon Lally: thousands of years ago there was an ice age, fallowed by a quick mealt. scientists have concluded that there IS NO SUCH THING AS GLOBAL WARMING it is a natural process that we can NOT cause or stop!!! i think it is a big hoax to get people to save more money and to buy more stuff just because it says GREEN on it

Byron Fortmann: I came up with an idea a few months ago when i was thinking about global warming, and i know the main concern is the rising ocean level. So the question to ask is not how to prevent this from happening b! y cutting down emissions, or pumping sulfur dioxide into the sky, but where to put the water instead. So why not empty some of the water into the empty oil wells beneath the sea?It was just an idea, but i didn't know if it would put the world off it's axis by mass shifts like some of the largest hydroelectric dams.So could this work?...Show more

Dexter Dingus: What global warming?Top climate scientists say there is no man-made Global Warming. The Great Global Warming Swindlehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtevF4B4RtQ

Armanda Hertel: the most precious thing is that you don't seem to realize that your "thinking" is pretty much right out of 17th Century Salem.... just with smaller words...

Jonie Lauria: i personally think we are experiencing global warming which explains why icebergs in the artic are melting at an increasing rate

Emeline Albracht: All the oil pumped in history could fit comfortably into Lake Tahoe, so I doubt that the increase in sea level! would fit in undersea oil well gaps.

Keven Drumgole: If they are! dirt roads, consider paving them or at least grating them back into shape. If they are already paved, consider a different resource. Heavy equipment is murder on bitumen and concrete can also be hard to upkeep. You might want to consider using a tarmac surface like that used at airports and landing strips.

Julienne Poplawski: All of the above. Hatred is a product of ignorance and fear, and radical conservatives are afraid of everything they do not understand â€" which is damn-near everything â€" and, so, they hate damn-near everything.

Global Warming?

Shelley Stevens: Many of the posters here have basically explained what global warming is. I don't think there should be much debate on that. As far as what causes it is where the great debate takes place. Regretfully, few of the larger fear mongers out there want to talk about the cyclical nature of climate change and the fact that we have gone through many periods of more significant and rapidly changing average global temperatures during the history of the earth than what we are going through now. While mankind may well have some impact on global climate change with the emission of greenhouse gasses, there is plenty of evidence to support that what is happening right now is natural. The earth has, on a fairly regular basis, gone through these changes. There are also instances where the cyclical nature of climate change has been given a jolt by an asteroid striking the surface of the planet or the eruption of a super volcano (Read up on Yellowstone National Park for! more info on these) puts so much dust into the air that it has brought on severely colder temperatures world wide. We can certainly do much to make our planet a more livable place and help clean up the earth but they aren't going to stop the current trend of warming. One day the earth will kill us or force us to take extreme measures to survive. It has done so with countless other species on our planet. Most people don't realize it but 99% of all plants and animals that have live don this planet are today, extinct. Considering how many different species we have on the earth now, that is a staggering thought. We are better equipped to deal with climatological change than our ancestors and one day (and this is a VERY VERY long way off) we may well be put into a situation where life as we know it now will be history. It sounds dark and scary but there isn't much we can do about it but use our own ingenuity to find the way to survive....Show more

Pei Heatherly: Ho! w does that make sense? drop opposition so it can be ratified ! and then scrapped. If Australia have come to their senses now, doesn't that mean we should be sensible right from the start and make sure it can not get approved.

Lenard Ginyard:

Michelle Sohre: at the moment im cool with global warming, where i live its kinda getting nicer, but i think pollution should stop or decrease global warming or not, but i also think if stuff like bans on big polluting companies happen many people will be out of jobs, Im really at a cross roads with this.

Justin Casten: The globe has been warming for the last 6000 to 10000 years, ever since the last Ice Age. It's all part of the global climatic cycle. I think it's important to protect our environment and as global citizens we should do all we can.But to say that man is the cause is a bunch of !@#$%&*. Do we help it along? Sure we do. The hardest challenge of all is to make life on Earth still sustainable for all this ever-growing population without destabilizing the ecosystem. Each year many animals are slain, plants suffocated, because of human presence on Earth and all their needs have to go into the planet, but it's the only planet we have, unless humans learn how to space-travel any time, we need to adapt to this environment and love the planet, because that's all we got....Show more

Giovanna Sherlin: You need remedial skills to be able to survive, which means some basic critical thinking ability. Classes like english give you communication skills, literature and history give you a general idea of society (kind of important if you want to interact with people), civics an idea of law, math and science for reasoning, biology and health for obvious reasons. Plus, the biggest one is that you need to learn _how_to_learn_, and the best way to do that is in a mildly challenging environment around your peers (i.e. school).Sk! ills cross over. With a simple stick and some sunlight and a small notion of astronomy, you can tell what time it is and on what latitude you are located. Using geometry and the pythagorean theorem you can tell how tall something is without a measuring tape. Stonemasons built entire cathedrals with the technology of math. You would need some of the same to build a safe home for yourself. From history and other social sciences, you can survive in the urban world. By urban, I don't mean areas immersed in technology, but rather immersed in people.Basic survival, outdoors or in, doesn't just benefit from remedial skills; it requires them....Show more

Raleigh Lufkin: Global warming is the natural cycle of the average temperture increasing on the planet. The "greenhouse effect" is believed to cause this, which is the trapped C02 below the atmoshpere. Some believe this is due to human activitiy, like the burning of fossil fuels. In realtiy though the earth goes through cycles! of warming & cooling, such was the ice age 10,000 years ago. There is! little we can due to change this natural process, except learn to adapt, which species have been doing for billions of years. The effects are slow & will not be anymore significant than any natural disaster seen in our lifetime. With that in mind it is still a good idea to be environmentally friendly. & remember Al Gore's movie is only his opinion & driven by a political agenda. Tomeka Hameen: Global Warming is more accurately global climate change. What causes it is that the solar energy that enters Earth's atmosphere, 70% of which is abosorbed by the Earth's surface, and 30% that is reflected back, cannot escape the atmosphere due to the abundance of greenhouse gases (the most prevalent of which is carbon dioxide). Thus the temperature is elevated within the troposphere. (The level at which we live). The effects are as varied as shorter, milder winters; increased severity of storms; damage to se! nsitive ecosystems (like coral reefs, and the cloud forests in Costa Rica); loss of biodiversity due to extinction or extirpation (local extinction) of sensitive species; shifting weather patterns and habitat loss. Humans can begin to reverse the effects of global climate shift, but it will take serious changes in behavior, which must start with people in developed countries like the US and Britain. Carbon Dioxide is one of the most abundant greenhouse gases. It has become such a problem not only because of the sheer number of vehicles on the road (of which most use fossil fuels, which emit CO2), but also from use of coal and natural gas to provide electricity and heat, and the tendency that wealthier countries have to cut down forested areas and replace them with shopping centers. Trees and plants breathe in CO2, and could help draw CO2 out of the atmosphere, if we would let them stand. In addition, we need to cut back on the use of fossil fuels, which involves investment ! and research not only in the new renewable resources (wind & solar in p! articular), but also in alternative fuel sources for vehicles, since emissions from automobiles is one of the main contributors to the problem. Although fossil fuels may be less expensive at the moment, the cost to the environment is much greater. (And the FACT of the matter is, it is NOT a renewable resource--whether it is 40 years from now or later, the rate at which we are utilizing fossil fuels far surpasses it's ability to recharge its supply. So, if people would commit themselves to engaging in activities that will utilize less fossil fuels, and vote with their wallets for products that conserve energy, perhaps we can actually do something about this problem! Thanks for asking!...Show more

They claimed that these solar cycles were directly responsible for Climate Variation because of what they did to upper atmospheric winds.Records for low temperatures are broken as well, there is no discernible pattern. Nor would you expect one, regardless of the cause of warming. For the record I suspect that a warmer upper atmosphere will impact on the way heat leaves the lower atmosphere. Jarrod Darnall: Global warming is when the biosphere(the earth) contains to much heat. What causes it is too many people gases from like factories and cars and stuff. Delmer Pectol: The current global warming began as a "natural cycle" as we've been coming out of the last ice age. Since t! he Industrial Revolution and particularly since about 1960, global warm! ing has accelerated.http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/info/warming/Scientists can't account for this warming with just natural causes. Dalia Causby: I don't want to discourage you from learning basic skills - we do need more of that. And there are some places that teach survival skills, and group of people that live off-the-grid sustainable lives. We need more people to live on the land, b! eing good stewards of the soil, growing food organically and sustainably, expanding land devoted to 4-season edibles, creating permaculture gardens, and reviving basic skills of all sorts. This is one of the most exciting times to be alive in our era, with so many people who are rediscovering and sharing traditional ways of living sustainably - and cleaning up toxic waste via natural methods. I think a lot of what kids learn from school and television and movies is so depressing and slanted and incomplete. Seriously, you need to question what you are being taught. You may or may not learn critical thinking in school. But since most questions come back to money, some time spent learning math and economics (both left and right leaning varieties) could be valuable to you. Learning history - again, you probably need supplemental education outside of what you are fed at school - is revealing. When you are ready for it, it will probably fascinate you. Science, ditto. Ju! st don't make the mistake of worshiping science as THE answer. Scienti! sts are political and money-loving and religious in their own way because they want their beliefs to change the course of others' beliefs and the way people are taught and get rewarded based on those beliefs...atheists as much as anyone who believes in God. If you ever take Logic, you'll be able to see when arguments make sense, and when you are being strung along with words that just SOUND impressive. You need math to keep a budget and live within your means - and to understand why voting for liberals will eventually mean that you won't have the freedom to live as you wish, where you wish. We can't just spend and spend based on good intentions and expect a good outcome. Do your math and figure out how politicians are juggling numbers to trick you into voting for them. Here's a good example of bad math uncovered that is important to virtually every American:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1yTY2MciOk

Stevie Kizziar: Global warming is a myth cooked up by Al Gore so he ! could make lots of money scaring people and exploiting the issue. Global warming and cooling cycles have been going on for 4 billion years. Ever hear of the Ice Age? Most hot air is a result of the opportunist Al Gore opening his mouth.

Marcellus Yoshimori: Climate change is the correct term for what people call global warming. There is irrefutable evidence that man's activities over past years has changed the atmosphere and has led to a change in the balanced greenhouse effect we need to survive on this planet. With no greenhouse effect we could not exist here. As the effect gets stronger as it has now, we will experience more intense weather events as the basic mechanisms of weather respond to a higher energy input. There is always a natural cycle of hot/cold, dry/wet but many extreme events can be attributed in part to the probable cause called "man induced climate change" (scientifically we cannot make the definitive statement). We know that we can change our! lifestyles and change the way our industries affect the environment in! a cost effective way so we can still enjoy the good things we want but at a lower environmental cost.Enjoy each day as if it were your last.Treat the environment as if you will live forever....Show more

development and conservation are two sides of same coin?

Queenie Ruthers: Two sides of the same coin mean opposites of each other. Development is all about expanding output by using more resources Conservation is all about reducing output to use less resources

Ronny Dorge: Malcom McDowell wrote a book called, "Outliers," and in it, he describes how a rice farmer in China constructs rice paddies to net the most crop. In detail, he writes how the paddy is constructed, how deep; irrigation techniques, fertilizer used, etc. I think this is probably the best example of your question.

Gennie Shauer: Well... I would say, it is very important that we strike the right balance between development and conservation. While development and progress is important, it should not be done at the cost of conservation. Without conservation, there would be no Earth and hence all the development will be a waste. For instance, many parts of the world are now facing fresh water shortages. Water levels in Southern California and many other r! egions have dropped significantly. We all know water sustains life. Hence if we waste this precious resource, there will soon be no life on earth. What's the use of all the development then. Same goes for all our other resources. Thus, while development is important, so is conservation....Show more

Dorethea Beaston: I suspect that you are referring to human development. Humans must have places to live and and work and doing it in an environmentally sustainable fashion is very much a conservation principle. In most places in the USA developers and the communities they work in are considering principles of land development and sustainability into consideration for all projects.

I have a question, and I am not trying to provoke anyone. This is not political.?

Roxane Leathers: Electric cars can seem quite unusual if you have not been following the discussion about them. Many of the interesting positive comments have taken place in the Alternative Fuel Vehicles section which YA has seen fit to place under "Environment" rather than the "Cars and Transportation" section. Battery costs will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and also depend upon the capacity, quality and quantity of the batteries. We like shorthands and used to say that the batteries would be 1/2 the cost of the vehicle. Technology improves, the price comes down (some may remember the first $4000 cell phones) and we are now looking at around 1/3 the price of the vehicle or less. The $109,000 Tesla Roadster has a large (53 KW-hr) battery that can take the car over 200 miles but costs about $36,000 to replace. The $32,780 Nissan leaf has a (24 KW-hr) battery that takes the car about 100 miles, has a warranty of 100,00 miles or 8 years and has a replacemen! t cost of $9000 at this time. These Lithium batteries will be considered "used up" for an electric car when they are reduced to about 70 to 80% of capacity. They will then be available to a secondary market for stationary uses where energy density (by weight or volume) is not important. There they may last another 5 or 10 years and then be recycled. The Leaf after tax incentives costs approximately $25,000 ($20,000 in California.) If we subtract the battery the basic vehicle cost is about $16,000. Amortized over the life of the battery the cost of the battery comes to $.09 per mile. Fuel costs are about $.04 per mile. Today's average US gasoline price is $3.596.1 A petrol vehicle would have to get (3.596/.13 = ) 27.7 mpg just to equal this cost with its fuel expense. When you consider oil and filter changes the mpg of the petrol vehicle would have to be even higher. As the price of gasoline goes up the EV looks even better. Do you think the price of gasoline is! going to go down? If you consider buying the vehicle where t! here are extra incentives as in California then you will have to find this package in a vehicle costing around $11,000. So as they say, "just do the math." Unfortunately many ahead of you already have. Demand is far exceeding supply and there is a huge backlisting of orders that may not be filled for months....Show more

Idell Syed: Another thing you should also consider is where do we get electricity from...

Jude Colbenson: the batteries are sapose to last 10 years. But then what, good question, as we know high mileage cars are worth less then low mileage cars. recycling is in place now and they don't use lead acid batteries, they use lithem batteries, witch are more recycle friendly the most.

Bryan Avinger: to not point out it incredibly is probable the fairest tutor in cable information. Greg Gutfeld - conservative with libertarian leanings invoice Schulz - liberal with libertarian leanings Andy Levy - libertarian

Sunshine Holets: You make good po! ints and I don't know the answer. I also wonder where we will get all this electric power to power millions of these cars.I think the electric car is just a fad and will go away.

Sammy Kar: Actually the battery reclaiming facilities have been in place for many years. I have also wondered what the cost would be to 'refurb' such a vehicle. :-)=
