How do you write a Television or movie review?

Elissa Curlin: their is no real right way to write one. you just write what you thought of the show and give a little sumary of it.

Luke Creitz: You seem to have two assignments here - one ies writing a movie or television show, and the other is writing a review on a movie or television show. Basically, the movie or TV review, like a book review, gives a very brief summary of the plot (without giving away surprise endings) and talks about the characters, and whether they work well together, whether the plot hangs together, whether the whole thing is overawed by special effects or drowned out by music. Whether the writing/plot/acting is fresh and original, or whether it is just another rehash of cliches. There's no way to give you a step by step guideline, because each movie or TV show you see is different. Take notes while you are watching - it's amazing how little things can slip your mind. And pay attention to the characters as though you were meeting them for the! first time. Some actors are so busy being themselves they never really get into the character. Others manage to submerge themselves so you forget they are not really that person. Meryl Streep is one of those - she truly becomes the character she is playing. And the range of characters is so diverse. One wonders what the 'real' Meryl Streep is like! Those aren't step by step guidelines, but I hope they help. If you have to write a movie or television show, what's a whole different thing. There is a very strict protocol and format and the library has a number of good books on how to put together a script....Show more
