What's the difference between having to buy car insurance and Obamacare where you have to buy health insurance?

Gregory Dilg: Wrong. You do NOT have to buy car insurance if you do not drive. Why do I have to buy health insurance if I do not go to a doctor?

Darrin Hixenbaugh: If I don't have a car, I don't have to buy insurance. So if Obama wants Obamacar to make all those people without cars buy insurance to subsidize my car insurance then they would be the same.

Angel Klym: Non-drivers are not forced to buy Auto Insurance to help pay for the costs of those who do drive...If you drive for a company, you MUST be covered by that company's insurance...if it were like Obamacare, that company could cut you loose...Auto insurers may set rates based on your driving record and charge more for "high risk" drivers...Obamacare prohibits health insurers from doing the same.....Show more

Moises Rupinski: Car insurance helps pay for you auto if it needs fixing. Health Insurance helps pay for your body it it needs fixing.

Valentine Willinger: car insurance is CONDITONAL - ! you only have to buy auto insurance as a condition of DRIVING.health care is UNCONDITIONAL - it forces you to buy health insurance just because you exist.

Hans Sachetti: You don't have to buy car insurance if you don't have a car.

Lucille Saetteurn: Obamacare had a public option. This is not obamacare. It's conservative democrat care.

Mitsuko Manne: No one is forced to buy car insurance. With ObamaCare, you are forced to buy insurance as a condition of citizenship. ObamaCare is unconstitutional and has been voided in its entirety by Judge Vinson in Florida. Please try a little harder next time, this one was easy.

Hai Biggart: Not discriminating for preexisting conditions is a good thing though.. Kinda like if you were in a car accident already and your fault, the car insurance company can not deny you for that.

William Vickerman: As a Liberal who votes Democrat 99 % of the time I can't lie and say I did not feel betrayed with the so called ! Obama care .I wanted the Public Option and the Medical Health ! ins corps taken completely out of the equation.Medical Ins . corps are useless middle men that do nothing but take and leach off of the sick. They disgust me ....Show more

Olen Penhallurick: We don't have the government competing against private insurers for costumers. If you don't like buying car insurance you have the option to stop driving.

Rickey Vrieze: The health of a fully functioning human is more important than that of a car ... !For instance if your car crashes you can get a new car if you can afford it or use public transport if you can't. If you are unfortunate to get a debilitating chronic disease the pre Obama health care insurance companies will drop you like a hot potato ... BIG difference ... !

Sibyl Siwik: No. The differences are clear.

Todd Stogner: A lot with car insurance even though most stated have laws that anyone operating a vehicle must have liability insurance we know many don't and also many of th illegals don't . So we! buy uninsured motorist insurance ot cover us in case we are involved in an accident with someone that doesn't have insurance. The health care deal is funny in that they even gave a waiver to McDonald's. So there is a difference and too bad the little people cannot do like his contributors....Show more

Marty Tichnell: You have a choice whether not not to purchase car insurance. WIth Obamacare purchasing health care would be mandatory. Yes, you can be in deep doo doo for not having car insurance should you get pulled over by the police and checked. If you get into an accident then your expenses related to said accident will be out of your own pocket. And if the other guy has a good attorney you will probably lose everything.WIth mandated health care you will be given a choice of either purchasing it or possibly ending up in prison and fined to death. Businesses who don't provide health coverage for their employees likewise will face large fines and the owners jail! ed.But not to worry. The US Supreme Court will rule that Obamacare is ! unconstitutional....Show more

Donte Liversedge: You can choose not to have a car, and thus, not to have car insurance. Under Obamacare you are required to buy insurance simply because you were born. There is no way to escape it.

Marcelle Vanlith: Actually its not the same principle at all. First and foremost, there is no federal mandate a person carry car insurance. It's a state issue. Obamacare is an unconstitutional federal law. Next, to have a car is a choice. You don't have to own a car and if you don't own a car you don't have to buy car insurance. In Obamacare, its mandatory to have health insurance. Finally, you're only requires by law to carry liability car insurance. It protects the other person you might hit from having to foot their own bill. Obamacare forces you to cover yourself....Show more

Loriann Carrigan: For starters, you aren't Federally fined if you don't purchase auto insurance. You are when you wreck (not Federally, but legally), bu! t if no one knows, no one knows. With Obamacare, you either purchase or you are Federally fined.

Somer Distilo: Those that do not drive or own a car are not forced to pay for all that do.

Joeann Hoyt: Driving a car is a privilege & it is to insure others for you screw ups. Health insurance is to supply yourself coverage. It would be great if the medical services were hard hearted, because only those that thought a head got service.

Chadwick Schmelz: Because thats a state law.

Moises Rupinski: You don't have to own a car; leg, pedal power or public transportation.

Cletus Crotts: 1) Car insurance is a state thing, not federal2) I can CHOOSE whether or not I drive.3) I'm not mandated to buy car insurance regardless of whether I drive. People are forced to either buy a plan regardless of their healthcare needs.

Irvin Guiles: One can choose to live without a car, and thus not have to buy car insurance. Many people in large cities for examp! le do not own cars. People who are not capable of driving due to parti! cular disabilities also do not own cars. One cannot reasonably claim that a person can choose not to breathe in order to avoid the purchase of health insurance. To own a car the society has determined that the responsible requirement is to mandate car insurance....since you put others at risk (note that car insurance covering ones self and ones own vehicle is NOT required in any state.....just liability insurance....which is to those you might potentially harm). To make a mandate in order to live however is another thing altogether. If that is permitted than the government can mandate you purchase anything it determines you should buy....reasonable or not. It may not seem huge to you as while evaluating simply this question....but as regards the future this question is, in fact, HUGE as to our freedoms in this nation....Show more
