Carter Dewater: If you want to fix your problem... follow my instructions and I assure you, your problem will be fixed.Unplug your modem, now unplug your router... now shut down your laptop... dont worry this wont mess up any connections with the router.... WAIT 3 mins... then i want you to plug back in the MODEM first... now wait 60 seconds, yes wait the full 60 seconds and plug back in your router.... after this wait another 60 seconds and power back on your laptop. Now go into your control panel and ... before I go on.. you need to quickly update this question and tell me if you are using Vista or XP... I'll wait... please update this so I can tell you what to do......**well i waited 15 mins and you didn't update this so i'll do it as if youre using XP... as i started to say... go into your control panel, then do the wireless network setup wizard... whatever the name of that wireless signal you pick up (yours I hope, is the name you need to type in the SSID space in the! top of the wizard) then select automatically set up a network key and follow along until you are done and reboot your computer and you should be fine....Show more
Tobie Oshea: its a hoc network. its someone elses computer signal. some people create their own computer networks (without internet or a router) to easily share files and connect between two computers. there will not be internet available from this network. also, the network icon should look different than a network with internet so you can differentiate between the two. hope this helps
